Q: Why Jeremy Lott's Diary?

A: It started as a joke. Many moons ago, I had a blog for Patheos. We needed a name for it. I cannot write for myself and thus cannot keep a diary. Then when I started Twitterpating regularly, it seemed a fitting title to use. Might as well take it up on Minds as well.

Q: What have you been up to lately?

A: Officially, I write the transportation and infrastructure "department" every week for the Washington Examiner magazine and do consulting and writing for a variety of clients.

Q: Unofficially?

A: I make comic books and help raise my daughter Sparrow.

Q: Staying out of politics?

A: Oh heck yes.

Q: Who did you vote for in the last election?

A: Bob Lott!

Q: You had a crowdfunded comic, Movie Men, published in 2019 but not in 2020. Why?

A: There was an 8-page excerpt published in Alterna Comics' It Came Out on a Wednesday #13 in 2020. It was from Ptero: Soar #1, which I will get out this year.

Q: How will you do that?

A: Crowdfunding again, and I might do something crazy.

Q: How crazy?

A: A single crowdfunding campaign for three or four books at the same time. If they're in the can, might as well.

Q: What do you have finished?

A: Murder is done. Ptero: Soar is done. The Movie Men-Sporkman crossover is all drawn, simply needs to be lettered. Beer Man is all drawn and is being colored.

AUMF is close to done. American Masks and Fight or Flight are both well on the way. And I guess the cat is already out of the bag on Nobody's Puppet, though that will take a bit longer.

Q: Any other comics?

A: The only thing I'll say publicly at this point ABOUT COMIC BOOKS is that my 4-page contribution to an anthology introducing Huckleberry Black should appear this year.

Q: Why did you put about comic books in ALL CAPS?

A: There are a few kids books just about ready to go. Princess Sparrow and the Three Gifts is done and the artwork is all done, but needs to be formatted. Growlilocks and the Three Humans is done but needs a few tweaks.

Q: What is Growlilocks?

A: It's a short story that I hired artist Paula Richey to turn into a kids book. It will be part one of a three-part animal fables trilogy, including Three Feral Pigs and the Vegan Wolf and The Tortoise and the Dare.

Q: Is Princess Sparrow Etc. about your daughter Sparrow?

A: It was finished before she was born. Her presence with us in utero inspired it.

Q: You are 42. Why are you turning to comic books and kids books at midlife?

A: I've written thousands of articles for so many publications that I lost count. At least several hundred.

That's great but "he had observations about politics" really isn't the mark I want to leave on this world, and it's certainly not what I want my kids to remember me for. Maybe I can tell great stories.

I mean, it's worth a shot.
