Bored of the same old Santa

Like most religions, given their 1000 plus year existance, and their signature celebrations, the importance lies in maintaining respect in the origins. But how do we maintain respect with so much repetition? The issue then though relates to how, without said repetition, each generation can digest the highlighted principles and values from said celebration. I am of course referring to Christmas...blindingly obvious with the clue of the time of year...but also how, and fair play to the origin itself and how it's been promoted, it's rammed down your throats the way it is.

Concerning the bible, and a lot of avid christians I know personally cannot know each story within its pages, reading it from to back seems more than a mammoth task for most. And it is less and less feasible these days with the fast pace at which we live our lives.

So, now in keeping with tradition AND the need for keeping the variety that facilitates the interest that will continue the relevance of the religion: Why not use the birth (in keeping with the tradition) as the starting place, each year followed by a separate story or passage and theming the holiday around this. For example, thanks to Jesus being born we got the....(feeding of the 5000 maybe)...I don't know. And I guess even though I was born in a Christian country, yet know numerically, more stories from at least 2 other religions, some might find weird. But that's up for debate.

I think, exposure aside, the overwhelming way Christmas is thrown at people, myself included, variety and different stories at the time of year the religion has my undivided plays a role in the interest I've taken in the religion. Not that I'd ever think myself likely to convert, but at the very least more supportive of the religion and there'd likely be less barriers between atheists like myself and avid christians if there was more variety. And from outsiders or those on the fences perspective; common folk identifying with people of certain religions more is likely to increase first time church goers at minimum.

Now on to the capitalist aspect of Christmas time. You'd think the flip side of lack in variety from overexposure is that no other religions' holidays cosy up so nicely with the commercial market the way christianity does, but this only adds to the problem; I can't honestly believe I'm alone in being sick and tired of Santa. Now, suggestion of a revamp wouldn't be a huge issue as there are no revered, sensible and valued society creating texts concerning Santa. But it would be unfair for future generations to miss out on the same magic a lot of us enjoyed up till around age 8 or 9.

In the name of fairness, let's focus more on the adult movies, theatre productions, ornaments (that could be merely merch from the movies), a series of books...essentially I'm suggesting a follow on from a nightmare before Christmas type franchise....except keeping the emphasis on gift giving. And of course still not infringing on the importance of Jesus and his legacy.

I propose recruiting Eli Roth, Larry Correia, the South park guys (I know theyve got hankey, but Santa still exists in that same universe) and a crack team of creative people who can work within these parameters (and actually have a budget). No more Santa, a story of gift giving, no more use of the same old songs, no blasphemy. If I ever win the lottery, getting this done is on my bucket list....I just hope before that unlikely event someone else has the same idea!
