Libel and Defamation
For those not familiar with the legal term "libel and defamation". It means Patrick Byrne communicated FALSE statement that harmed the reputation of an individual, business, product, group, government, religion, or nation. Does Patrick Byrne has very WEAK ethic?

Guilty
Here are a few extracts from the court decision. Both Patrick Byrne and Mark Mitchell were permanently banned from any further defamatory publications about Altaf “Aly” Nazerali. The judge stated the injunction was necessary because Byrne and Mitchell had acted with malice. Justice Affleck concluded,
“Mitchell, Byrne and Deep Capture LLC engaged in a calculated and ruthless campaign to inflict as much damage on Mr. Nazerali’s reputation as they could achieve.” “It is clear on the evidence that their intention was to conduct a vendetta in which the truth about Mr. Nazerali himself was of no consequence.”
The judge went on to say, “not only are the defamatory words pleaded by the plaintiff damaging to his reputation, these defendants, instead of choosing to tone down their extravagant language once they were sued, chose to pile on the abuse with a narrative of multiple allegations of serious misconduct.”
“Tortious misconduct of Mitchell, Byrne and Deep Capture, LLC demonstrates an indecent and pitiless desire to wound.” Stated Judge Affleck’s on May 6th, 2016 with his decision in favor of Plaintiff Aly Nazerali.
In May 2016, Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Affleck rendered a scathing 102 page judgment finding Byrne, and Mitchell jointly and severally guilty of libel and defamation and awarded Nazerali $1.2 million including $400,000 in general damages, $500,000 in aggravated damages, $250,000 in punitive damages, and $55,000 in special damages, the highest such award in British Columbia history, and one of the highest in Canada.

Suggestions
Sign Minds Code of Conduct?
This is a suggestion for Minds Board of Directors and Minds users. If not already done, how about writing a Minds Code of Conduct? Then make it mandatory for all members of the Minds Board of Directors to sign in written, commit to it, then make this public? If Byrne's behaviors have matured since his last challenge, then he it's likely he would not hesitate to commit to Minds Code of Conduct. But if it's true that Byrne has immature behaviors and allegedly still little or no control over his behaviors, then in the future the Minds Code of Conduct would both facilitate future resolutions, and reduce risk of unethical or illegal behaviors, and costly lawsuits while at the same time protecting both you and the Minds users. Review Future Major Investors For Values Match?
In the future, before accepting and involving new major investors and or new Board of Director members, how about reviewing their past behaviors? Including but not limited to double checking that their values match Minds' values. It took my legal team less than 15 minutes to find the public information above about Byrne's behaviors. How about reviewing future candidate investors past behaviors, then comparing it with the present claims. Do they match? Or do their present claim disagree with their past behaviors? Speaking for myself I consider both. With higher priority on the past and present behaviors than the present claims only. Otherwise there are risk of abuse by people with immature behaviors. In the case of Byrne some people could argue that his values really do not match Minds' value about censorship-free. Could we say opposite values? According to the Court document above, Byrne's past behaviors demonstrate clearly that he did try repeatedly to bully into silence someone he disagree with, then after being fined by the Court and asked to stop, Byrne double down on his bullying behaviors. In the future, will Byrne be able to control his behaviors to remain within the Laws and within ethical behaviors? Will Byrne tries to bully into silence Minds users with Libel and Defamation (smears), will Byrne's next step be to try to censor Minds users? Repeating illegal and or unethical behaviors is a WEAKNESS, while stopping illegal and or unethical behaviors demonstrate courage, growth, and STRENGTH.
