Shadow banning is defined by techopedia.com as:
The practice of shadow banning involves an administrator or system operator hiding posts from a particular user in order to minimize their effect on a readership.
I've read posts from Minds users claiming that Minds is shadow banning them.
Do I believe that Minds is shadow banning? No.
I see everything I want to view in Minds because I don't ban anyone, boosted post is turned on, and NSFW is turned on. I don't subscribe to many people (currently 116), but believe me that I see a lot of posts. So I don't believe that Minds is shadow banning anyone.
That said, Minds has a practice that has bugged me from the very beginning and I have been very vocal against this practice.
Minds tags certain channels as "E" (mature content). All posts by the tagged channel is automatically tagged with an "E" regardless of whether a post is mature content or not.
Channels with mature content deserve this "E" tag. And there are quite a few of these channels.
What bugs me is that Minds use the "E" tag for "extreme right" channels. It's not that I agree with the posts from these channels, but I firmly believe that they have freedom of speech like everyone else.
If I don't agree or like their posts, I can simply ignore them. Other Minds users have the same right and can also ignore them and/or ban them.
I don't want Minds, any company, or anybody deciding for me on what I can see or hear. I want that responsibility for myself.
