Good Evening all,
I thought I'd tone it down after the prior video weekend post. Civvie 11 might be too much for some out there, especially when you get him riled up over any particular game or series that has seen better days. I thought I'd finish off this video weekend showcase with some choice videos of Civvie 11 "reviewing" the "Medieval Doom" clones of yesteryear: Heretic II and Hexen.
I've only had the pleasure of playing Hexen on the Sega Saturn back in the day so I never actually played the PC version. That has recently changed for me after I bought the Heretic + Hexen Collection off GOG but like Civvie mentions you can't buy Heretic II at the moment or at the time of his video, depending when you see/read this. So for me his video on the game was information, and a knife to the heart in what I'm missing out on.
I could never get far in Hexen on Saturn at the time due to the system requiring a massive amount of save data on the internal save memory on the Saturn itself. It was recommended that I use the external backup RAM cart to even consider getting far in the game. Or be able to save any other game data on the Saturn for that matter. When I eventually figure out how to map keyboard commands to a controller I may actually play it full one day.
Hexen - Wraith of the RailMage
Till then these videos will do and I hope you enjoy them as well for this octoberween night. Give me a remake/remaster of these games and this series any day. It'll give Doom: The Dark Ages a run for it's money!
Sleep well tonight,
Ta-ta
