Hello ladies and gentlemen, Removablesanity here. I have just got back from an great gaming event In London called WASD and would like to share with you some of my highlights.

So if you do like indie games, do feel free to subscribe and click the notification bell. So with out further a do, lets move onto the games, in no favourable order:-

Number 10

Nivalis

This is a cyberpunk life sim within a cyberpunk voxel city, where you start of with start small: a food stall, a noodle stand, a stim store. You progress your way up to a bar, a restaurant, or even a nightclub, with your aim to eventually own all the nightlife in Nivalis. The beautiful visuals and engaging gameplay shines already through as explore the city, decorate your home or business and discover the stories of the people you meet in the city, your friends, your customers, and maybe even find love.

Playing this blew me away with its stunning visuals, superb sound and engaging day to day life, that left me wanting more. A definite for any cyberpunk fans and is coming to PC in 2024 . Nivalis on Steam (steampowered.com)

Number 09

Dungeon Golf

It’s mini golf in a dungeon where you whack your way through lava, traps and monsters using a lute, your fists, or your own skeletal leg. You can even score a hole-in-none! Compete with your friends online or together to be the true Dungeon Golf champion. The game promotes a wacky selection of golfers who each have their own strengths, weaknesses, and unique powerful abilities.

Simple to get into and addictive to play, this was one I thoroughly enjoyed playing and hope it does well so it can be ported to more platforms. It’s out now on PC with a 20% saving. Save 20% on Dungeon Golf on Steam (steampowered.com)

Number 08

Tax Force

Tax Force is a 2D action rogue-lite with a lovely comic book art style. You track down mutant billionaire tax evaders, and will need to fight your way through their defences to negotiate repayments. Spend those resources to clear the debt directly, or reinvest in your city to grow the economy and organically pay the debt, before the planet burns to a crisp. Branching narrative decisions, mutant powers, all built in a smooth melee combat with keep you fighting to better the world you inhabit.

I’ve had my eye on this game for awhile and playing it at WASD was nothing short of immensely fun and visually striking as I beat up mutants on my way to stop the evil tax evaders. It currently aiming for PC via Steam in 2024. Tax-Force on Steam (steampowered.com)

Number 07

Ghost Runner 2

A sequel to the acclaimed Ghost Runner, this hardcore FPP slasher set in a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk future, aims to out do its predecessor. Ghost runner 2 will introduce new skills, allow players to be more creative, and take on even the most demanding encounters with greater accessibility. Enemies now behave uniquely dependent on the skills used against them, providing a fresh challenge with each encounter. The player progression system has also been completely redone, providing opportunities to experiment and customize gameplay.

As a first time player, I found Ghost Runner 2 highly addictive and challenging in equal measure, that welcomes new players and old alike. It’s coming to all major platforms in 26th October 2023. Pre-purchase Ghostrunner 2 on Steam (steampowered.com)

Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance

Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance is a gritty RTS that puts you in the middle of the Future Wars between humanity and Legion's synthetic intelligent machine network. You take command and lead your army to foil Legion's plan to destroy humanity or play as one of three factions in skirmish and multiplayer. Set with the Terminator world, the new lore puts you in charge of the Founders, and attempts to bring a fresh new look to the franchise.

Slitherine are well known in the RTS world at producing quality games from a selection of different franchises, such as Warhammer, World War, Starship Troopers and now Terminator. Playing this shows the developers have come in this survival RTS and I fell in love with it almost immediately. Worth your time and money, the game is coming to PC in Q4 2024. Number 05

Gori: Cuddly Carnage

You play as a badass murder-kitty on a death-dealing hoverboard in Gori: Cuddly Carnage, a third-person ‘skate ‘n’ slash’ set in a neon-glowing futuristic world filled with intense destruction and fast-paced combat. With adorable creature to maim and slice, intense hoverboard action all set in the world of toys, this will be a game unlike all others.

I couldn’t have been happier as I sliced, diced and tricked out my way through the demo. It was a brutal and engaging experience from the moment I took control of the adorable kitty. One of my must plays, this is one ill be getting my hands on. It’s coming to all major platforms in 2023 Gori: Cuddly Carnage on Steam (steampowered.com)

Trinty Fusion

Trinity Fusion is a Rogue-Lite action platformer set in a sprawling, doomed multiverse. The game boasts procedurally-generated levels as well as hand-crafted challenge. Take control of your parallel selves on as you explore these dark sci-fi worlds and engage in fast-paced, smooth and precise combat.

Each of your parallel selves has their own world with multiple biomes to explore, and playing the demo on show got me excited for this game than any other rogue-lite to date. The smoothness of combat, constant progression and superb visuals kept me going to be the first to complete the demo at the WASD event.

It’s coming to all major platforms in 2023, with early access for PC out now. Trinity Fusion on Steam (steampowered.com)

Number 03

Beneath

Beneath is a heart-pounding first-person action-horror adventure that takes place in the mysterious depths of the ocean. Plunge into a treacherous and enigmatic underwater world and brace yourself to confront the heart-stopping horrors that await as you fight against all odds.

This survival FPS reminds me of a mix of Deep Fear on the Sega Saturn and F.E.A.R the FPS game. Playing the demo quickly showed me that ammo conservation is critical and there is beauty in the darkness and horrors that await to take you out, at every corner.

It’s coming to all major platforms in 2024. Beneath on Steam (steampowered.com)

Number 02

Pocket Bravery

Inspired by classic fighting games from the 90's such as Street Fighter, Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters, 'Pocket Bravery' channels the 'Neo Geo Pocket' aesthetic for a modern fighting game with a retro twist!

With original characters, vibrant colours and an impressive combat system, 'Pocket Bravery' is designed with high-level players in mind, while making it easily accessible for beginners to pick-up-and-play. The game allows for head-to-head worldwide with ultra-low latency rollback code in online multiplayer or friends locally.

Sorry We’re Closed

Sorry We're Closed is a nostalgic single player survival horror game with rich lore and character interactions that allow multiple endings. Following the end days of Michelle, explore unsettling locations using the environment to hide and survive. Whilst using your demon gun to defend in first person mode to accurately kill those that stalk you.

Whilst foremostly this is a narrative driven game with retro survival horror playstyle elements, like fixed cameras. There is so much more to the game with the ability to look into the real world anytime with your third eye, and light combat done in first person mode. To say this blew me away, would be an understatement. The mood, style, mechanics all scream AAA quality from this small two person dev team. It came out of no where and I want more of it.

It currently aiming for PC via Steam in 2024.. Sorry We're Closed on Steam (steampowered.com)

Unfortunately there are too many amazing games at this event to go through, but some notable mentions are ULTROS - a psychedelic metroidvania where you wake up stranded on The Sarcophagus, a cosmic uterus holding an ancient, demonic being. (Ultros on Steam (steampowered.com) It’s coming to all PC and PlayStation in 2024.

We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip - Partner up with your friend online and test your friendship by solving puzzles . (We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip on Steam (steampowered.com). Currently free to play on all platforms till October 13!

Also a big thanks to Dead Good Media who kept myself and other content creators for a place to chill, eat pizza, get information and for tickets to the event. They are truly worth a follow on social media.

Overall the event was fantastic and has become a stable in my indie focussed events here in the uk. If your into indie games and want to play and talk to the people that made them this would be the event to go.
