Easterseal 2023 Dreamer Stephen Change as the Godfather of Dreams.

What was your experience with Dreamer?

I’ve been Union Principal Actor for 40 years for Union Projects ( “ Union does not work with Non-Inion”) My Loyal Friend Clinton Siegle asked me to play God Father Of Dreams in DREAMER Short Film. A new challenge to do without facing actors from different Countries,.,? And We Did It..,and had chosen ( put in proper words) showing the director producer a success and genuine

Your career spans across various successful films, including "First Blood," "International Rescue," and "Double Happiness." How do you approach selecting roles, and what criteria do you consider when deciding to take on a project?
First Blood (1982): Stallone and the producers came to my Kung Fu school without appointments. They selected four (5'2") Vietnamese students, but later, they wanted a taller and more powerful Commander. Stallone said, "Get Master Stephen Chang," and I got the VC Commander role without an audition!

Chinese Film Bureau, PRC, showcased my huge photo in the Vancouver Sun Daily Newspaper and contacted the local embassy to invite me to star in an international Rescue WW2 feature, a 70mm movie.

Double Happiness: I went for an audition, and someone asked, "Why is Stephen here? This is not a Bruce Lee movie." However, after everything was done, the director said, "Send Stephen in; I want to see him!" She handed me a Chinese newspaper and said, "You are reading newspapers at midnight, and your daughter came back home." I walked in and threw the paper, saying, "Do you know what time it is NOW?!" She was impressed and wanted to see me again. The casting director told me to dress old and dye my hair grey. I got the role of Dad Li, the father of Sandra Oh's character, Jade Li.
As a Celebrity Ambassador to China Film Studios for JV Projects, how do you navigate and contribute to collaborations between the Chinese and international film industries? What challenges have you encountered, and how have you overcome them?
Stephen Chang: A Pioneering Ambassador in Bridging Cultural Gaps
In my capacity as Ambassador, I achieved a significant milestone by establishing the inaugural Red Carpet GOLDEN MAPLE FILM FESTIVAL in 2016-2017, hosted in the prestigious Crystal Ballroom in Vancouver, Canada. The event was graced by the presence of both Chinese and international celebrities, as showcased in the accompanying video documentation. Serving as the Head Judge, I delivered the opening speech fluently in English, Mandarin, and French, adding a multilingual touch to the event – a feat captured in photographs.
Continuing my efforts to foster cultural exchange, I successfully facilitated engagements between Chinese Directors, Producers, and the Cultural Minister, culminating in the signing of agreements and contracts with the UBCP ACTRA UNION. This achievement is visually chronicled in the accompanying photos.
Recognizing the intricacies of film funding, I adhered to the stipulated criteria, ensuring that movies supported met specific guidelines. This included a requirement for films to incorporate 30% Chinese content and strict regulations against political violations and total nudity. Additionally, I advocated for and achieved a commendable 30% allocation for filming in China, further strengthening the collaboration between the two nations in the realm of cinema.

Having served as a judge for the Gemini Award, Canada China Film Festival, and Global Model Contest, what do you believe are the key qualities that make a film or performance stand out, and how do you evaluate them in your judging role?
Judging Experience: With a remarkable 44-year tenure in the film industry, my IMDb credits trace back to 1976. Possessing martial arts skills acquired from Bruce Lee images and mastering the art from the level of a Master to Grand Master further enhances my qualifications. Fluency in eight languages, including proficiency in eight Chinese dialects, solidifies my suitability for the role of Head Judge.
Your involvement in funding three features in China-US-Canada in 2015-2016 is notable. Can you share your experience as an executive producer for these projects and the challenges you faced in managing cross-border collaborations?
