1. What is the biggest issue facing America, and what would you do about it?
The biggest issue facing America right now is the economy. The national debt is over 35 trillion and growing everyday. A Libertarian in the US Senate would change everything. A Libertarian in the senate will be able to lend support across political barriers, helping to champion causes that puts people first. Together we can address issues that have been on the minds of millions of Americans for decades like keeping American tax dollars in America, legalization of marijuana, or even the often promised and rarely delivered lower taxes!
2. As a Libertarian candidate, how do you intend to strike a balance between advocating for individual freedoms and addressing public health concerns, especially in the context of potential future pandemics or health crises in America?
We should be getting medical advice from practicing medical professionals. The government should not be making decisions about approving or denying care for patients. To answer bluntly, I would not have ordered mask mandates or vaccine requirements or arresting people for going to the beach. To be fair I would have theoretically gone along with the 2 weeks to flatten the curve on the advice of medical professionals because I am not a doctor. In the future I think everyone will be going into every crisis more skeptical. In this age of communication and knowledge at one’s fingertips, I believe that individuals are best at deciding what is best for themselves, and that’s the balance.
3. Given your background, particularly with the Hawaii Veterans Cannabis Alliance, what is your stance on federal cannabis legalization, and how do you anticipate it could impact Florida & medical use economy and public health?
I am very much in favor of freeing the plants. Full legalization opens up the market for new farmers, reinstates people’s rights, and relieves the overburdened criminal justice system. There will be an amendment on Florida ballots for legalization for recreational cannabis use, and if amendment three passes Floridians will still not be allowed to grow their own. I understand getting the ball down the field and I will always be in favor of cannabis because I do believe in the many benefits of the plant. I am the hail mary, put a Libertarian in the US Senate, me or any of the other Libertarians across America running for federal office and we will find friends on all sides and finally score one for all of America.
4. How would you address issues of homelessness and affordable housing in America, taking into account the unique challenges faced by Americans in terms of availability and
high demand?
The housing issue is a complex issue one that I hope that churches will take a bigger role in. I don’t say that to throw shade but in all sincerity they are better at helping people than anything the government can do. I am the daughter of a single mother of three, she waited tables for $2.13/hour (still legal in some states) when she went to get food stamps they denied her because she smoked cannabis. When we didn’t have food to eat it was the churches that left boxes of canned goods and fresh vegetables from the garden on our front porch, it was the churches that gave us school supplies, and at Christmas time it was the churches that made sure each of us had something under the tree. During COVID it was the churches hosting food drives and helping people pay bills.
5. The American education system faces various challenges. What specific policies or reforms do you propose to improve the quality of education and address disparities, particularly in underserved communities?
I would like to see school choice expanded.
6. As a candidate with a background in supporting veterans, what initiatives do you envision to assist veterans, especially in terms of healthcare, employment, and overall well-being?
First I don’t only have a background supporting veterans, I am one too. I like an all volunteer military, but it’s more of a contract. There is pay and benefits promised and those promises must be upheld or we will have thousands of trained and unhappy people in the streets. I am all for veteran integration programs, decreasing veteran suicides, and balancing veteran benifits to account for inflation.
7. What measures would you advocate for to enhance resilience and mitigate the effects of climate change?
Stop all government subsidies for single use plastics. Increase the trash accountability and responsibilities to corporations of origin. Allow for more nuclear energy, solar, wind, and I am open to new advancements in sustainable technology.
