Sie wohnen ganz nahe bei den Germanen des rechten Rheinufers und führen mit diesen unaufhörlich Krieg. Aus der gleichen Ursache übertreffen auch die Helvetier die übrigen Kelten an Tapferkeit; denn sie liegen fast täglich mit den Germanen im Kampf, wehren dieselben entweder vom eigenen Gebiet ab, oder führen auf germanischem Boden selbst Krieg. Jener eine Teil Galliens, den nach unserer Angabe die Kelten innehaben, fängt am Fluss Rhône an, wird von der Garonne, dem Ozean und dem Gebiet der Belgier begrenzt und reicht auf der Seite der Sequaner und Helvetier bis an den Rheinstrom: die ganze Richtung aber ist gegen Norden.
