What is causing these cars to levitate through the air?

What seems like flying cars at this Xingtai, North China intersection prompted an investigation.

After multiple vehicles were seen being picked up off the earth, ground crew later revealed steel wires left on the roadway.  However, it didn't stop people from suggesting that aliens were lifting these cars off the ground.
