A study at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York recently found that high doses of vitamin C (about as much as is found in 300 oranges) will destroy colorectal cancer by causing tumors to oxidize and stop spreading.
The study is one of many and highlights the power of the vitamin, found in citrus fruits like oranges, lemons and grapefruits, but also bountiful in red and yellow bell peppers, as well as guavas, dark leafy greens, kiwi, broccoli, berries, tomatoes, peas and papayas.
The doctors found that administering the vitamin intravenously was more effective than orally because it seems not to absorb efficiently through the intestine when eaten. It is also suggested that the average person take 1 gram of vitamin C twice per day to fight illness.
It is also believed to be an effective treatment for renal cell carcinoma, bladder cancer and pancreatic cancer.
