Boosting Posts in Groups

Part 2 of "Boosting" Blog.

I've created several groups and I've been attempting to find the most effective way of driving membership up. I've tried boosting the groups, adding posts with links to the groups. and including links to the groups in my bio. None of these have worked so far.

This led me to performing an experiment here in MINDS. The purpose of this experiment was to determine what drives group membership and views up. The results somewhat surprised me.

The experiment involved boosting 2 photos with 5,000 points (views) each, one at a time to isolate the effects. The first photo is somewhat risqué and it was posted in the "Lucky Shots" group with 8 existing members. The second photo was posted in the "People Photography" group with 9 existing members.

Views

Photo #1 started with 25 views and ended up with 6,649 views. My channel views during the Boost period for this photo peaked at 3,413 views. Daily average was about 1,650 views.

Photo #2 started with 7 views and ended up with 6,016 views. My channel views during the Boost period for this photo hit 2,796 views. Keep in mind that the Amazon outage which impacted MINDS today may have affected this number.

Votes, Comments, and Reminds

Photo #1 had 41 Up votes, 22 Down votes, 2 Reminds, and 13 Comments.

Photo #2 had 21 Up votes, 0 Down votes, 2 Reminds, and 3 Comments.

Group Membership

This was the surprising result. There were no increase in group members. Nor were the other posts in the groups affected.

Conclusions

  • You get your "money's worth" boosting posts which resulted in more views than you "paid" for.
  • Boosting posts also appear to be the best way to boost interest in your channel instead of boosting Blogs, Groups, or the Channel itself.
  • There are still Puritans among us who get offended by risqué photos and the photo I posted is mild compared to other photos and art I see here in MINDS.

Bonus

Not related to the experiment but there are definitely more beer drinkers than wine drinkers here in MINDS.

Cheers!
