The world can be a dark place. Although humans are capable of doing great good in the world, it cannot be forgotten just how cruel and callous we can be to each other. We are also victims of tragic circumstances, more than we realize until we force ourselves to explore the darkness that exists in our world. Death, destruction, mayhem, and tragedy are very real aspects of the human experience. YouTube creator Horror Stories has spent the past 3 years collecting and presenting some of the darkest and most disturbing events of our time. At the time of this writing, Horror Stories has uploaded a collection of over 120 videos where he discusses everything from unexplained disappearances, to grotesque freak accidents, to unbelievable acts of violence perpetrated by humans against their fellow man. In an ominous tone he narrates each video, providing excrutiating detail to paint a picture of each story. The Horror Stories channel has accrued over 80,000 subscribers, and over 23 million views, with several videos breaking the 1 million view mark. Despite this, YouTube has refused to allow monetization for most of his videos for unknown reasons.

The Horror Stories YouTube channel continues the tradition started by infamous videos series such as Faces of Death, Traces of Death, and other Mondo-style films. Among his most popular videos are topics such as the death of cave explorer John Jones, the death of diver Yuri Lipski, and the death of Mary T. Wojtyla who was recorded walking into a speeding train. Another notable video is The Story Of The Columbine High School Massacre, which has a length of over 48 minutes. In this video, Horror Stories provides his own take on the event. This video is so well-researched and informative that it has led to some of his viewers delcaring it as one of, if not THE best video on the subject. Other videos cover the murder of Pantera guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell, the Lake Bodom murders, the Station Nightclub fire, the Twilight Zone: The Movie helicopter accident, and Peter Scully - the demented creator of "Daisy's Destruction", one of the most horrific and widely circulated child sexual abuse videos. This only scratches the surface of the treasure trove of information within the channel.

Horror Stories has spent hours upon hours researching and compiling information, which he presents to the world, absolutely free of charge, bringing in millions of views on YouTube. Even after all of his hard work, YouTube refuses to monetize the vast majority of his videos and compensate him. He currently accepts donations via Patreon, which I have linked below. For now, Horror Stories is looking to raise funds via Patreon, with the goal of becoming a full-time YouTuber. The information provided by Horror Stories is invaluable to our society and the world, as it is a stark reminder of the dark side of humanity. We need channels like this on YouTube and other platforms because they are an example of what built YouTube in the first place. When YouTube turns a cold shoulder to Horror Stories and channels like it, they ignore their roots and drive valuable creators away. Horror Stories is an example of how independent content creators can embrace the power of the internet and challenge the corporate entities that have dominated the industry for decades.
