Winds of War

America has brokered a fairly peaceful world since becoming a "superpower" . It's a huge responsibility but our national security did depend on it. Generations before us did what had to be done to get us to this powerful  position making many sacrifices along the way. 

One way we have purchased the peace is protecting others so that they didn't really have to have a huge military , Japan didn't need nuclear weapons because we would provide for their security . We  would fund NATO that would keep our own selves in check . We would make everyone's national security our own.

Since we have somewhat reneged on that and North Korea is an immediate nuclear threat to Japan now and Iran is in a position to threaten it's neighbors . Japan lives with the threat that a North Korean nuclear missile might land on their tiny island nation any moment . Arabia has threatened a nuclear build up because we have let their enemy Iran  develop the weapons. Not really outright reneging on our promise , just kicking the can down the road of doing something about it . The truth of the matter is we did sign up for this,  We owe it to the next generation and the nations we have promised . Could a vow be more sacred , to protect their continued existence as a people . 

So we have a  right to self defense and a duty to our children and others to make good on promises North Korea and Iran would not become nuclear threats . The appointment of former Ambassador John Bolton is a signal that the Trump administration is prepared to do whatever it takes to finally make good on our responsibility and promise . Mr. Bolton is internationally known to be very hawkish . It's easy to call him warmonger because to talk tough now almost certainly means war . It's not just North Korea anymore , now there's two . Because if we didn't put dirty deed too long it's the last minute . If Iran or North Korea drop a nuke on anyone the trust we had won with the  world  that gave us generations of peace( compared to the world America inherited ).

The appointment of Bolton tells the world Trump means business and that looks like it means war to him . It could very well go that way , we should have been so determined a long time ago . Before Japan was living under a nuclear attack threat any moment now .  It would be a big blunder to just screw everyone we have promised to defend . The nation of Japan may not be able to say too much about it but the rest of the world  is  not likely to value a US promise of protection from nuclear attack when they observe our other  allies getting cremated alive . 

It is time to consider a military solution while that is still possible . We don't really know that it is anymore . Maybe just maybe if we act now we can come out of this smelling like a rose , I got my doubts . Someone's going to have to put on the General George Patton helmet, we've dithered too long . It's time to support our President , he's throwing down . It's a lot more of a gamble than it ever should have been allowed to become . 

We have been the policemen of the world in mostly a good way and are still under contract while Trump has to renegotiate that too. To just suddenly drop out of sight when the gunman we have been hired to prevent shoots away in the classrooms would be more harmful to the future of mankind on planet earth than the war that is our duty . 

I know many would rather our grandchildren be nuked by a bad actor than for America to be a bully about nuclear weapons proliferation. At least their grandparents will have achieved a zenith in the evolution of humankind when we realized war is bad and if anyone's going to do it it wouldn't be them  while  superpower . It's a time for most of us to wake up or sober up . Trump bluff will be most   powerful with the people shouting with him .  The Bolton appointment indicates he is aware that this one is probably not going to fall into his lap .
