Hipsy's View: New Challenge!

With a new year coming up, I have decided to take up a challenge for myself. I know this type of thing has been done multiple times by others, but I have decided to put my spin on it; who doesn't like to hear other people's opinions and reasonings, am I right? Now you probably already know what my challenge is by judging the photo cover for this blog, so without further ado, I'm letting you all know that I will be comparing/contrasting books and movies!

To break it down, I will be starting with my own shelves. I will be going through my movies and bookshelves. For every movie I find that has been adapted from a book, I will read that book and rewatch the film. After that, I will make a video on which I believed was better. In fact, that is what I'm calling the challenge: "Which Is Better?" As I will do with the movies, I will do the same with my books; that means I will have to bite a few bullets and watch films I said I would never watch because I don't like how it looks to be adapted (i.e. The Giver; I don't like that they changed the ages of the characters and made it look like another dystopian "The Chosen One" story). I will also be open to recommendations; if you have a request, I will do best to meet that challenge.

Another thing to know is that this challenge will be slow-paced. I work multiple jobs and tend not to have much time for myself. One of my reasons to have this blog was not only to share my view on pop culture (specifically books and films) but also to help build up a profile for a dream job as a writer (kind of becoming a somewhat critic, so to speak). Therefore, my plan is this: I will read as many books as I can and watch their film adaptations. I plan to put at least one hour of reading in each day; plus, some of the films on my movie shelf are going to make it difficult, due to some being TV series and/or being adapted from either very large or multiple books. The most I can ask of you is to please be patient with me.

Now, I also plan to make a new YouTube channel just for this challenge. I will still write and give my reviews on these books and films, as well as any new content that I get a chance to watch or read. When I have my channel up, I will let you all know. Again, the challenge will be called "Which Is Better?" So keep a lookout for it. My first book in the challenge is the City of Ember; expect a review of the book here on my blog, and the first video sometime next month. Until then, let me know if you have any suggestion for "Which Is Better?"

Forgive the blurriness of the photo, it's an old one I was playing with when I first started Hipsy's View
