A body riddled with parasites as a result of eating raw pork over the years. The condition was discovered by accident after the patient came in for an X-ray for a hip fracture.
In this case, the tapeworm larvae migrated to muscles and soft tissue in the hips and legs, forming cysts that calcified, creating a "rice grain" pattern on the X-ray.
While cysts in soft tissue are usually harmless, if they reach the brain, they can cause neurocysticercosis, leading to life-threatening symptoms like seizures and headaches.
