Improving Minds+: Original premium content

We talked to hundreds of Minds+ subscribers to learn how we can make Minds+ better for you. After weeks of interviews and collabing with a student research team at UC Berkeley, we learned that Minds+ subscribers want original premium content, better reach & engagement, and more ways to earn. And of course to support Minds, which we're thankful for 🙏

Original content

The most common feedback we heard from subscribers about the content in Minds+ is that it's often not original. And while a big part of what makes Minds great is memes and re-sharing the best stuff from the Internet, Minds+ content needs to be extra special to back up the "premium" nature of the subscription. The Minds+ program has always required that premium content be original, content you own in order to make it available to other Minds+ subscribers.

While most of you have made Minds+ great with your original photos, videos, blogs, and text posts, we haven't consistently enforced the requirement for originality. Starting today, we've rolled out new tools to report unoriginal Minds+ content, and establish a more consistent culture of originality when publishing to the Minds+ paywall.

If Minds+ content is reported for being unoriginal (and the report is upheld), that content will lose its Minds+ status, won't appear in the Minds+ feed, and won't be eligible for earning. You can read more in our content policy to learn about the standard for original content, and the related strike and appeals system. And note that we won't be enforcing the report+strike system on Minds+ content published before April 10, 2023 since, while the originality requirement isn't new, the strike system is.
