Very soon I'll be releasing a new book, called "Defying Gravity." This book was originally inspired by a dream, heavy with magic realism, about a young man who discovers a unique talent while rehearsing a Broadway musical.
When I set out to actually write the book, I originally intended on inventing a musical to serve as the vehicle for the young actor's gift. Upon writing that first sentence, I knew the book had to be more personal, more honest. So instead of using a musical of my creation, I opted to return to one of the most meaningful and profound productions I'd ever been a part of.
That musical was "Cabaret."
I played the Emcee and decided that was exactly what this book needed.
With the addition of the magic realism from the inspiring dream, this book has become something very special to me.
My goal is to have "Defying Gravity" published by end of summer or beginning of the fall.
Until then, to tied you over, you can always read my quirky, socially-aware, romance, "Hopetown."
