Today, we are excited to officially launch our new product Minds Chat. We have been testing it out in Canary mode with the community over the past week and the feedback has been very positive.

This is a major upgrade from our legacy messenger and we are confident that this new messaging system will drastically improve overall communication and collaboration on the platform. The legacy messenger will be disabled but can be turned back on in your settings.

Minds Chat is built on the Matrix protocol, which is an open standard for secure, decentralized, real-time communication.

Minds Chat is now available on Google Play or directly via the Minds APK. The app will be available on the iOS App Store soon. To access Minds Chat on a web browser, simply click on Chat in the main navigation on Minds or visit https://chat.minds.com. If it is your first time visiting, then you just need to log in using your Minds username and password to get started.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When you first log in to Minds Chat, you will be prompted to download and back up your encryption key. MAKE SURE TO STORE THIS SOMEWHERE SAFE! You will need this key in order to recover your encrypted messages across different sessions or devices.

This product is a major milestone for Minds and takes us all a giant leap ahead with regards to providing decentralized tools that respect your privacy and freedom.
