"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words shall never hurt me." Words can hurt your feelings, but that's not enough reason to limit someone's speech. But someone's choice to engage that way, instead of trying to talk about the ideas and differing perspectives constructively, is a fine reason to tell them to fuck off or ignore them and at least mute them. Intentionally being an asshole in a public convo is passive aggressive censorship, an attempt to deter certain voices from speaking up.
