DAY 1 REPORT, STEEMIT VS MINDS
I decided to migrate all my blogging activities from Facebook to some alternate social network yesterday. i had a few main points and categories i wanted to make my decision on.
My decision criteria was influenced by my being an exmuslim and wanted to share my 'politically incorrect' experiences and research on Islam, which i gained over 31 years of being a muslim.
I also wanted to share some of my poetry.(mostly also atheistic and anti religion)
#Decision Criteria#
>Should be very FREEDOM OF SPEECH oriented (Hate speech IS freedom of speech stance)
>Should have more BLOGGING/LONG ARTICLES/LONG TEXT culture.
>Should have a healthy community that likes to engage with said posts.
>My govt (Which has death panelty for what i am doing IN LAW) shoudnt be able to track me and or ban my account. the platform should NOT be compliant to bullying tactics of my country to restrist freedom of speech.
#DAY 1 MINDS REPORT#
Initial impression.
>Felt more like facebook initially.(PRO)
>Freedom of speech is indeed part of their main philosophy(PRO)
>Absolutly non existant/very low amount of people/community talking about religion, atheism, Islam etc(CON)
>first day engagement was terrible.(no one really comments here) (CON)
>the platform seems to guage your POPULARITY as your contribution to the network.(CON)
>Groups feature SUCKS right now.(CON)
>Chat has built in encryption and security (PRO)
First day activity
>I was given a token free when i joined, worth 1.25 usd. which i used to BOOST(buy 1000 views for my initial main post) That generated 72 views one share so far.(the boost hasnt even triggered yet)
>Got 13 subscriptions.
>Got 230 view in total on my posts.
>Was awarded 1.131 TOKENS for this activity.
>around 4 to 6 hours of activity (i started near the end of the day)
#DAY 1 STEEMIT REPORT#
Major realization:
At first glance i thought STEEMIT was it, but i later learned that STEEMIT is actually part of many tools of the STEEM platform, and STEEMIT is actually a REDDIT inspired tool.I plan to see if some other tool they have that suits me more.
Initial impression.

>first day engagement was terrible.(no one comments) was overwhelmed by comments by weird bots and auto systems, promoting other user, resteemers, sub for sub bullshit. (CON)
>Activity making comments, subscribing to people, upvoting, EVERYTHING costs something called MANA/ENERGY which slowly regenerates, which has made the whole platform VERY GREED oriented, saw very little genioune engagement(CON).
>Overly complex and convuluted system, of reputation points steem tokens, steem dollors, steem power, mana and what not, found it to be totally stupid bullshit. felt more like a dashboard of a pyramid scheme or MLM scheme (CON)

>Made 3 posts
>got around 52 upvotes in total on them.
>Was awarded steem dollors worth (0.037544 USD) for this activity.
>around 4 to 6 hours of activity (i started near the end of the day).
#DAY 1 CONCLUSION#
>MINDS definitely wins in FIRST IMPRESSIONS.
>MIND wins in ease of USE.
#Plan going ahead#
>before complete migration from facebook, i will spend a few more days reviewing alternate social networks before i finally settle on one.
>Will explore STEEM platform more and see if their other tools are better.
