The Plains Rat or also known as the Palyoora, Plains Mouse, and Eastern Mouse is a species of rodent native to Australia and is listed as vulnerable. 

Reasons for vulnerable status - Habitat degradation, introduced predators, drought, altered fire regimes, competition, climate change. 

Conservation efforts - Action plans have been put in place.

Size: 9 - 14 cm

Weight: 53 - 65 g

Native Locations: Australia 

Lifespan: 2 - 4.5 years

Population: 5,000 - 20,000 (mature individuals)

Conservation status: Vulnerable (VU)
