Stop 5G Template Letters for All Your Political Representatives -- Updated in January of 2020
Below you will find template letters to use to send to all your political representatives to advance the stop 5G cause. There are two versions of this letter, one specifically for local city representatives, and another specifically for state and federal representatives. You can use the Common Cause website engine to find all your political representatives names and contact info in seconds, by simply entering your home address. I urge all to send these letters to your representatives via paper letters by regular USPS mail--it's ok to send an email version of it too, but don't just send it via email as emails aren't given much weight. Please also back up your letter with a phone call to each of your political representatives' offices.

I am writing because of my grave concern about the plans to implement and install small-cell wireless cell phone network infrastructure, to facilitate the 5G wireless cell phone network, based on the recent, highly questionable, and unprecedented FCC ruling on the matter. This ruling essentially allows installment anywhere without local control, even if disastrous health consequences are proven--which they incontrovertibly are... The FCC rules allow these wireless facilities 10-20 feet from homes on rights of way, and neglect health, privacy, environmental, fire, and falling hazards, while setting an absolute 60-90 day shot clock, regardless of application number. 5G will also require the removal or severe pruning of all trees along the streets, as they cannot block the signal. The FCC orders are unconstitutional and are currently being challenged. I urge you to disallow this illegal mandate, and not take any hard to reverse action that changes our local wireless infrastructure ordinances to facilitate 5G, if these actions have already been taken, I urge you to commit yourself to work towards reversing these changes, with bold and innovative legal action steps to protect citizens.
Other cities and counties are standing against these “rushed” and “streamlined” FCC rules. They are being challenged in the ninth circuit by many municipalities; the Marin County, California Board of Supervisors, town of Fairfax, CA, and the Massachusetts Municipal Association are examples of just a few of such against these rules. Others are waiting to see the outcomes of the existing legal challenges and tightening their ordinances. Burlington, Massachusetts recently revised the town ordinances in a manner that caused the applications put forth by Verizon to be withdrawn. Petaluma County, California recently revised town ordinances to require under-grounding of equipment and large setbacks from residences. Pittsfield, Massachusetts recently revised city ordinances to limit the number of "small cells" placed on a structure. These actions provide more support, and legal justification for our local governments to challenge them as well. Further, heads of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology have written to the FCC questioning collusion. On January 14, 2019, Congresswomen Eshoo and Speier introduced HR 530, to block the FCC preemption of local authority. The National Resource Defense Council is also challenging the FCC's earlier rules, to exempt small cells from historic and environmental considerations.
The FCC claims to 5G safety are unfounded. On Feb. 6, 2019, in a Senate hearing industry leaders admitted that there had been no health or safety testing, despite $25 billion dollars invested by the wireless industry in 2018. Senator Blumenthal and Congresswoman Eshoo have written the FCC for proof that the 5G technologies employment of millimeter microwave (MMW) radiation, in the 6–100 GHz range are safe, with no satisfactory response. The FCC regulations for safety were adopted in 1996, based on industry-science and have not been updated for next generation wireless equipment and devices. Further, they are based on thermal effects not biological effects. The biological effects of this radiation are the very area of primary concern, so then it is utterly outrageous that the FCC points to this obviously ridiculously disingenuous and fraudulent industry-science study, as proof of the safety of this radiation. Finally, the FCC’s Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) limits do not apply to devices operating above 6 GHz (which 5G does)--again more absurd, disingenuous, and fraudulent industry-science...

The harm from 5G will affect everyone, including those who make the most vital contributions to society, our community, and economy here in our area. Your children, seniors, expecting mothers and their babies, and immune-compromised constituents will be especially vulnerable to this harmful exposure.
Recent research by the U.S. National Toxicological Program (NTP), found cardiac and tumor risks heightened just from 2G wireless exposures, and other researchers have confirmed the NTP findings at ambient power levels. This is clear evidence of a link between long-term RF radiation exposure and cancer. I would like to remind you of the recent liability law legal precedent that was just handed down in 2019, where a federal jury ruled that Monsanto was liable for a California man’s cancer, and ordered the Roundup manufacturer to pay $80 million in damages. The harm that the 5G radiation infrastructure would inflict, would make the harm Roundup has done seem like child's play...
Our local governments should seek to limit, not exponentially increase, the amount of electrosmog pollution from manmade RF radiation in our area, as an imperative, according to numerous physician and scientist organizations! These include: The World Health Organization, Kaiser Permanente, American Academy for Environmental Medicine (AAEM), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), CA Sierra Club, the Honeybee Foundation, and even the California Department of Public Health. Nor should our local governments allow experimentation on the residents, with a vast array of new MMW technologies only previously used as ADS in crowd control. The Nuremberg Code has forbidden experimentation of this sort for over 50 years.
As our elected official(s), the citizens of _____________________ require your good governance, not protection of commercial, corporate, and insider special interests. I am writing to request your due diligence, that our ordinance be carefully examined in light of health risks, other model ordinances, and with attention to crafting an ordinance that will prevent harm to the community. I request a careful review of the existing ordinances, with plenty of citizen input, to insure citizen protections, as our elected representative this is your duty. If need be, I ask that you enact additional protective ordinances, to prevent unsafe 5G into our residential and commercial areas. Again, I ask that you not make any hard to reverse actions at this time that allows for the 5G infrastructure. If actions have already been taken to change ordinances to allow for small-cell wireless cell phone network infrastructure, to facilitate the 5G wireless cell phone network, I urge you to do everything you can to reverse these changes to the ordinances. The unprecedented, highly suspect, and unconstitutional reality of this FCC ruling, combined with the disastrous proven health consequences of this wireless network infrastructure and technology, call for bold, innovative, and unprecedented legal actions on the part of our leaders to protect citizens from these gravely serious health consequences, as well as, the privacy, environmental, and other consequences. Please realize and contemplate you, your family, friends and colleagues will all be subject to the gravely serious health consequences of this radiation, just like the rest of the population. Additionally, as a leader directly responsible for protecting the public, and administering ordinances governing if and how the 5G radiation infrastructure is implemented, you can be held personally liable for the damages this radiation infrastructure causes... I can assure you that there is unprecedented activism happening on the ground regarding this issue, and I am devoting myself to continued serious and sustained organizing to educate the public on these matters, defeat the actions that seek to impose this radiation infrastructure, and hold all accountable who seek to impose it with every legal and peaceful method that is available to me.
