Jayantha Wijesingha is a Sustainability Consultant, Researcher, and Climate Champion who began his career as a branding professional and a marketer predominantly in the media industry (PRESS). With his passion for conservation and love for nature, He then became an advocate of conservation, environmental human rights, and land rights and worked as a conservationist thereafter with over 12 years of experience in Sri Lanka and South East Asia working on various areas such as Climate Change, Environmental policy planning, Conservation strategy planning, Ecosystem restoration, and Sustainable development. He was also awarded a climate champion by Climate Group,WWF, Earthwatch, and Smithsonian tropical institute and was a part of a 5-year research program in Borneo that was supported by the Royal Society of UK. He is also the convener and a founding member of Rainforest protectors of Sri Lanka, Chief Coordinator of Rainforest Protectors Trust, and an advisor to many local/district-level environment organizations that are the most active local groups advocating and campaigning for the land right to environmental human rights. Furthermore, he serves as an independent consultant to many donor-funded projects operating in Sri Lanka, and the EU-funded "WASH Platform" and "COLIBRI" were his most recent engagements as a consultant.
