Gospel is the #Old #English translation of Greek, #evangelion, meaning "good news". It originally meant the Christian message itself, but in the 2nd century it came to be used for the books in which the message was set out. #Gospel #music, meanwhile, is a genre of #Christian music. It is composed and performed for many purposes, including aesthetic pleasure, religious or ceremonial purposes, and as an entertainment product for the marketplace. The creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of gospel music varies according to culture and social context.
