He would attend Ranger school and eventually become a helicopter pilot. A second young man, from the Ozark mountains of Missouri would take a similar path, becoming a helicopter crewman in the same unit. The crewman was the father of roots rock recording artist, Iron Mike Norton, and the Texan was none other than Kris Kristofferson.
