This time they ran it as a controlled clinical trial over two years. Turns out it worked similarly to a lottery win: people reverted to their pre-existing quality of life within a year. Most of the increased monthly income was spent on leisure. After some initial stress reduction and spending on healthcare, physical and mental health outcomes returned to equilibrium within a year.
