I know I haven't been around much lately, I've got a job that keeps me away from home 12 hours a day (not all of that time is working, about 2 hours driving and I tend to stay late so I don't spend 3 or 4 driving) and I've got a toddler at home that I tend to get all to myself on weekends and prevents evenings from happening. I want to rant. The latest updates to #Android have really pissed me off. Used to Android only had a basic music player built in that really wasn't all that great, it played music, but it was super basic and was more like working from the file system than something advanced, like say #Amarok or in my case #Clementine. Then Google Play Music came out. When it first came out it was super awesome. It would make intelligent play-list out of the music on my phone, it had an awesome interface, it was like being on a really good radio station with my own music only without commercials. Then Google introduced their subscription music service. Every update to the app would try to force you into streaming over playing local music after that came out. It got to the point that even if you had the music locally stored on your device it still wanted to try to stream it. Not to mention you were constantly getting notices - I don't like apps that give notices that aren't communications apps, and constant begging within the app to please subscribe. Sure there were settings you could change to stay local, but it got to point to where it was a fight to keep it that way and it was better just to ditch the program all together. I switched to #PowerAmp and I even paid for it in response! So, now I actually do like to use voice commands to control music while I'm driving. I could up until very recently say "Okay Google, Play Freebird" and I could within a large margin of error expect that Google - which of course has indexed my phone, would play Freebird on the default music player - PowerAmp.
