Biker Chicks of '49 I came across this today and it screamed out colourise me and I couldn't resist. Taken by photographer Loomis Dean for Life Magazine in 1949, it is of a group of seven motorcyclists riding though Griffith Park, Los Angeles, California. Pictured are, foreground, from left, Lucille Meeker (on a Triumph), Betty Drafton (on a Velocette), and Cecilia Adams (on a custom-made bike); background, from left, Frank Cooper, Chuck Parkyns, Dr. William Eschrich, and Frank Erling. Loomis Dean was a veteran Life Magazine photographer who shot pictures of circus clowns, crown princes, Hollywood stars, Madagascar lemurs and SS Andrea Doria survivors in a five-decade long career. His low-key manner disarmed his subjects and put them at ease, enabling Dean to capture such images as the Prince of Liechtenstein in his long johns and Noël Coward in a tuxedo in the desert.
