Time for another ‘Rapid Rundown’ and this episode is about the blockchain real estate investment trust, GlobalREIT. GlobalREIT intends to create the worlds first blockchain based REIT. A REIT stands for real estate investment trust and is, in simple terms, an easy way for investors to invest in property without actually buying a property. The global REIT platform is a revenue sharing model that will offer dividends to its token holders derived from real estate profits. Two tokens will be distributed to investors that will be held to receive payouts for different sectors of the business; GRET will pay out monthly dividends acquired from the income of the assets under management, and GREM will be pegged to the asset base and offer capital growth as more assets are purchased. Blockchain technology will come into play for the three main components of the platform: Asset Management Module: This module will enable access to view all the assets on the platform and all the data related to them. This data will include exchange rates, dividends, holding intervals and minimum investment amounts among others. Transaction Module: The transaction module handles all the transactions and API calls throughout the platform. Compliance & Security Module: GlobalREIT will provide 24/7 transaction security by implementing thorough checks for all parties to ensure fraud is eliminated from the system. This module will also cover KYC and AML and ensure all data is stored securely under military level protocols. In addition to releasing dividends, the tokens will also have utility in that they can be used to claim rewards and benefits from the GlobalREIT company. some of these benefits will include free stays in hospitality assets and loyalty points to be used for free services up to a certain limit.
