Given present trends, World Health Organization (WHO) projects that, in the next 10 years, approx. 388 million people will die due to chronic diseases such as heart disease, strokes, diabetes and cancer. Roughly HALF of those who will succumb to these lifestyle diseases, will be younger than 70 years of age. The causes for these chronic diseases are NOT mysterious: poor nutrition, low physical activity and stress-related activities (tobacco and alcohol). We have not, as a species, acquired the following SKILLS (think functionality) necessary to understand and slow and stop these trends. What skills are we trying to teach to reverse the tsunami of heart disease, diabetes, cancers, strokes coming our way? We are trying to re-teach 3 basic skills: How to EAT (and refrain from eating, in accordance with our DNA), How to MOVE (in accordance with our DNA) and How to control the Emotions (through Cyclic Breath control).
