The Ballad of Buster Scruggs The latest movie from the Coen Bros. It’s several stories from the wild west, slightly in the style of Tales from the Crypt, but less outright macabre...for the most part. It starts out really strong with the title story. Buster Scruggs is an all around critter of a man. He’s slight and sings and shoots men dead. This story is also a musical. The next story is about a robber who can’t catch a break, until he does. I guess a lot of the stories here can be described as “when luck dries out”. The story about the woman on the Oregon Trail lasts to long and needed to be trimmed because I was wondering through most of it what it was leading up to. The last story is probably the most strange, but it’s subtle about it. A lot of this movie left me wondering if both of the Coens suffer from depression. https://youtu.be/_2PyxzSH1HM
