Congee for Gastritis pronouced (kahn-jee) This simple traditional dish can soothe your gastrointestinal tract. Congee is basically a watered down rice dish cooked much longer than normal. The rice becomes like a paste that helps to mend the mucosal lining and reduce mucosal inflammation. It does not treat the cause of the problem but can offer a nice element of support. Ingredients: ➤ rice ➤ water ➤ butter or ghee ➤ salt (optional) ➤ ginger Directions: ➤ 1 part rice to 9 parts water ➤ bring to boil ➤ simmer 20 minutes and add ingredients to taste ➤ simmer another 2-3 hours There are many variations and you can add just about any ingredient however, this recipe is for a sensitive digestive tract so it’s best to keep it simple.
