Based in Los Angeles, CA, Plug Research Music was founded in 1994 as a way to release 12” singles. The label quickly grew away from being a single driven label and became home to an impressive collection of musicians that were pushing the boundaries of sound. Some of the early releases included classic releases by Dntel, Daedelus, the debut release for Flying Lotus, Mia Doi Todd and Milosh to name a few. Twenty years later, the label is still going strong with a roster consisting of established artists like Adult Karate, Tom Terrien, Bilal (who garnered the label it's first Grammy nomination), Exile, Robin Hannibal, and Boom Clap Bachelors. The label also has a slew of new artists like Sonnymoon, Lee Bannon, Elephant & Castle, Astrobal, who will continue the legacy of the label for years to come.
