I'm a center leaning left-libertarian. I believe in a strong minimum wage, strong union regulations, strong environmental regulations, health care for all, socialized public education, and a federal jobs guarantee. I do not believe that the government has any right to interfere in social issues, other than protecting the rights outlined in the constitution. I believe in strengthening NASA, strengthening Social Security, and a steep progressive capital gains tax and land value tax at the federal level to prevent wealth consolidation, as well as a steep business tax on businesses profiting more than one million dollars a year. At the state level I believe in a bracketed income tax system that does not take anyone making less than 50,000 dollars a year, as well as abolishing state level property taxes and sales taxes. I am for an interpretation of the 2nd amendment that guarantees all citizens the right to own a firearm. Freedom of speech is the most important western value to me and I believe that it must be protected at all costs.
I am against policies that involve United States interference in the affairs of other countries unless we are attacked first ourselves. I do not support our proxy wars with Russia in the middle east. I do not support identity politics or "social justice warriors" - I agree with Morgan Freeman that the best way to stop racism is to stop talking about race. I believe that we can do the same for sexism and other forms of discrimination as well. We need to stop focusing on what divides people and instead focus on what brings people together.
